Since I was feeling nostalgic about having blogged for a year I decided to look back over the last year and my healthy living journey and list some of the things I've learned. Enjoy!
1. Hiking Mt. Washington was hard. Really hard. But I'm going to do it again this summer. Bring it on Lionhead!
2. Lobster rolls are the best sandwich on the planet. Fact.
3. Peanut-butter burgers are kind of yucky. 4. Good friends never go out of style. Especially friends who encourage and support you in an effort to lead a healthy lifestyle.
5. 5K's are no joke. Watch out for the hills.
6. Beer bellies are real and happen to the best of us. They also look terrible in a bathing suit. Ugh. (I still need to work on this.) 7. Long commutes are really hard on your body and deplete your energy for exercise. The shorter the commute the better.
8. Goals are fantastic to have but only if they are obtainable otherwise you will drive yourself crazy. (Been there. done that.)9. Yes you can get sun burn on a short run. Sun burn hurts. Wear sunscreen.
10. Whether you want to believe it or not, if your parents have ever said to you, "Practice makes perfect", as annoying as it may sound at the time.....it's true. Practice.
11. There is a different between sore and injured. Take the time to know your body and learn the difference.12. Buy proper running equipment. Spend the money for good shoes, compression stockings, etc.
14. Even pro-athletes and Olympians have bad days. Get over it and get back to work tomorrow.
15. The scale does not determine your personality and does not dictate who you are or who you will become. You get to decide that. Don't let the number define you. (Same with clothes. Buy the clothes that fit and if the number upsets you cut the tag off.)
Have you been on your own weight-loss or healthy living journey? What are some of the things you've learned along the way?
